Check off 1996 and proposed rules. Under search, type in "colloidal silver".The notice appeared in the Federal Register: October 15, 1996 (Volume 61, Number 200)] [Proposed Rules] [Page 53685-53688] From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov] GO BACK

I should have said "alleged antiviral properties". While silver may kill or inhibit viruses in a test tube as promoters allege, I have never seen any scientific evidence that it does. And there most certainly is no evidence that it kills or effectively treats viral diseases when ingested by humans or animals. GO BACK

The final report calls for a warning for pregnant and lactating women. These links are to a few of the attachments that I sent with my comments. I pulled them from MEDLINE, but have not yet actually ordered and read all the articles. MEDLINE is full of a great many similar articles. I have no idea how the CDSL could possibly conclude that "Herbs are safe" for pregnant and lactating women or anyone else.
