If you are one of those who doesn't think that governments offer reliable information on drugs, go to Andrew Weil's website and see what he says about silver.

Andrew Weil is a Harvard educated medical doctor and one of the leading US proponents of "alt. medicine" and "natural remedies".

The New England Journal of Medicine, May 20, 1999, Vol. 340:20, p. 1554, Argyria, B.A. Bouts. This reports my case. The URL for the NEJM website is: http://www.NEJM.ORG/. If you subscribe to the journal, you can access the article online. If you do not, you can probably access it online by paying a fee. Most US hospitals subscribe to the NEJM so that if you want to see the report verifying that I have argyria without paying a fee, you can go to the library at your nearest hospital and read the article there. While you are in the medical library, be sure to also look at the case report of the 16 year old boy whose entire body was discolored by a silver "dietary supplement". NEJM, Vol. 352:22, Nov. 25, 2004, Medical Mystery, p. 2349-50.

The following site translates my story into German.

This is a shortened version of an article by journalist John Mahoney that originally appeared in a small, local, northern Vermont newspaper, The Caledonian Record, on July 5, 1996.
